Crazy Summer

Wow. It’s the end of the summer and I didn’t get a chance to complete the theme update, add new content to the site, or expand the client base. Why? Because I have been busy helping business and new social media users get their feet into the fire!

Campbell River has become ALIVE with social media, from personal to business. At one point we were seeing a business a day joining Twitter! One sector that has really taken to social media is the Campbell River based Whale Watching businesses. ALL of them have Twitter and FB accounts and they update them daily. As a big “re-Tweeter” in the community, I was invited out by one of them, in thanks for the SM support. I spent the day with Eagle Eye Adventures (@EagleEyeAdv) and had a fantastic 8-hour trip out with them. Nick, one of the Eagle Eye Zodiak drivers, is also responsible for the company Social Media and has now become a self-professed “Tweetaholic”. I took a ton of pics and video (whales, bears, eagles and AMAZING scenery) and made sure I linked it all to their various social media connections. Talk about getting it right!

I also helped another local company, Discovery Trekking Outfiiters (@_DTO), and one of their employees become more active and proficient with Twitter. The results were almost immediate! Their reach improved and more people are starting to discover their fantastic products. We were even able to convince the CEO to get her own Twitter account and get herself out there as a successful, professional, woman. She is loving the tool! The employee, who was on summer vacation back home, is a business student at Marquette University and is taking a whole new look at Social Media with him to his senior year at University.

Finally there was a TON of work preparing my social media presence for my Campbell River City Council campaign. After announcing at the beginning of June, I have spent the past few months building up my Twitter, FB and Blog accounts, to the point where I am now showing up nicely on Google searches.

There is one more Social Media success looming on the horizon, but will have to wait until the 8th of September to see if it really is successful!

Stay tuned!
